For the first adventure of Dirk and Franklyn, see Get This Gamblor Off My Back.
When last we left our monetarily challenged heroes, they were tired from a night of poker, and not looking forward to a day of work. Well don't worry, loyal readers, because they worked. Oh yes, they worked until....um....until there wasn't anymore work to do. Yeah, that'll work.
So it's a month later. Dirk and Franklyn decide that it's time to tackle Sin City again, and put their money where their mouths are (Warning: Putting money in your mouth can spread disease. Do not try this at home).
As 4:00pm rolled around, they hopped in their super cool flying space car (hey, my story, my reality) and sped down to that place of delinquency....that place of delectable indulgence...where the women are busty and so are your pockets (Ha! I kill me). I mean, of course, the Borgata. Both men fought hard against their opponents...and both came out on top, celebrating victory over a seemingly insurmountable foe. But now it was almost 4:00 AM and they were tired. Luckily, Franklyn had thought ahead and reserved a room in the Sheraton. All they had to do was get there. Seems easy, right? Just drive 2.4 miles...then park...then go inside and get a few hours of sleep before going straight back to work the next day. The plan was flawless. It was so easy that a team of monkeys could follow the instructions. But unfortunately, we had no such monkeys.
The streets were dark. The fog was thick like pea soup. And evil lurked in every shadow. But the 2 men pushed onward. Every minute brought them closer to peaceful sleep. And then, there, in the distance, was that shining beacon of hope. The Sheraton sign. The men drove closer, then pulled around the hotel to enter the back parking lot. What they didn't realize was that there was no back parking lot...and the road they were on had just become the Atlantic City Expressway. They were trapped like rats in a maze! No where to go but forward. No where to turn around for miles. So they did what any red-blooded american would do. They bought some Red Bull and drove straight back home. Screw sleep! They didn't need it! (Note: you DO need sleep. Do not try this at home). All they needed was a shower and a fresh pair of clothes. Then they would go back to work...and if they became tired, they would just smell the sweet odor in their bulging wallets.
Well, long story short (too late!) Franklyn followed the plan. He had early meetings to go to. Dirk, however, found that his bed looked too inviting for him to leave. He took a 2 hour nap and then went in to work. And they both lived happily ever after. (Note: they did not live happily ever after).
The moral of this story is that if you shirk your responsibilities and go gamble all night then you will succeed in life.

Every shadow? Evil lurked in EVERY shadow? Surely there was an innocent shadow minding its business, blocking light from cute puppies?
